Pasta Morelli Pici Semolina Pasta Nests
Pasta Morelli Pici Semolina Pasta Nests
description
Pici is a hand-rolled pasta, thicker than spaghetti or bucatini, traditional of Tuscany.
Rolled into small nests, this pasta pairs perfectly with mushroom, tomato, and meat based sauces. In the region, you may find it served with wild boar! Finish with a good swirl of extra virgin olive oil.
Morelli Pici Pasta from Italy is handmade with durum wheat semolina from Tuscany, it is thicker than spaghetti, but thinner than a pencil, is quite dense and absorbs sauces well to give a more succulent and full-bodied flavor to your cooking. Morelli's semolina creates a beautifully flavored heirloom wheat pasta with a rich, nutty bite.
Morelli has been creating gourmet Italian pasta in Tuscany since 1860 and is a family-run company with the 5th generation currently preserving the traditions their ancestors put into place. They utilize an artisanal method of reincorporating wheat germ into semolina to create many of their pastas with a unique taste and the aroma of wheat.
The nests make it easy to portion out less than a full bag. For the best result, we suggest cooking this pasta in plenty of boiling water and not stirring it for the first 12 minutes to prevent it from breaking up. The total cooking time is 22 minutes.
