From the Val d’Orcia hills, each of the variety of olives at Chiarentana is hand picked separately as they mature. The olives are then immediately ground at the press on the estate at Chiarenta and La Foce.
From the Val d’Orcia hills. To the nose Frantoio oil has an intense fruity, herbaceous and harmonious fragrance, while in the mouth it is reminiscent of fresh olives, newly-cut grass, and reveals the bitter taste of artichoke leaves, followed by a “long” deep pungency in the throat, that leaves the mouth pleasantly clean.
Recommended combinations: On a table laid with Tuscan recipes Frantoio oil will find many possible combinations due to its elegant characteristics that make it perfect for “harmonious” dishes, such as spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce, vegetable soups, ribollita, mixed crostini, Fiorentina steak, raw vegetable dips, boiled beans, as well as mixed salads.
Der Feinschmecker, Gambero Rosso, Slow Food and Merum have all bestowed significant prizes on the oils from Chiarentana.
