Silver Award- NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition (2021)

Gianfranco Becchina Olio Verde Extra Virgin Olive Oil hails from Southwestern Sicily. Produced using 100% estate-grown Nocellara del Belice olives and named for its beautiful yellow-green hue, this artisanal oil features a stunning balance of flavors that makes it particularly versatile for cooking and baking applications.

Expect a complex flavor profile featuring fruity, peppery, and grassy notes. Nutty and herbal hints create a well-rounded taste, and the smooth and velvety mouthfeel is a sensory pleasure. It's a natural complement to grilled seafood like you'd find throughout the island of Sicily. In particular, it's a popular pairing for grilled tuna. This Gianfranco Becchina Olio Verde Olive Oil also tastes lovely as an accent for roasted peppers and stewed white beans.

2023 Tasting Notes: Olio Verde was the first Sicilian olive oil made with 100% Nocellara del Belice olives. The 2023 Harvest is soft and buttery, with a grassy aroma and fruity flavor. Notes of perfectly ripe tomatoes, banana, and herbs are punctuated by a hint of white pepper that amuses the palate. The oil has an unctuous and velvety mouthfeel, typical of Sicilian oils of the “New Generation” which Olio Verde helped foster.

According to Deborah Krasner in "The Flavors of Olive Oil", Olio Verde is "...beautifully colored and winsome estate-grown artisanal oil from Southwestern Sicily is nutty and herbal, with complex taste nuances."
